Jake Roberts

After sound engineering for music Jake decided to turn to sound for picture and studied at the National Film and Television School where he met Barnaby Templer - their mutual understanding of sound narrative led them to form Fonic in 2004. After working in all aspects of sound including recording, tracklaying and mix, Jake is now sound supervising and mixing at Fonic.

Jakes music career spanned form engineering for bands from Steel Pulse to Ruby Turner and resulted in forming a band with Roger Taylor from Duran Duran. He still dabbles in music and can be found DJing around the world.

His has since worked on Batman Begins, Peppa Pig ,and The Secret Show to name but a few.

Barnaby Templer

Barnaby has always been interested in sound and film. He worked as a freelance sound recordist before he went to the National Film and Television school to study sound for film. There he worked on many varied projects and studied bells in Poland. He met Jake Roberts in the sound transfer bay and realised they were on the same wavelength. After leaving and working on a project together they formed Fonic.

Barnaby also enjoys playing various stringed musical instruments and can be found in East London venues playing bass for Snidey.

Barnaby has a passion for sound design and water related past times. When he's not fishing he is slaving over his Pro Tools looking for the right sound to enhance the picture.

JM Finch

JM has always loved music and sound. This resulted in him studying for a degree at LIPA - the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. Here he studied all aspects of sound production.

JM then went on to work on Batman Begins as a sound department runner where he first met Jake Roberts. After then going on to work at Livingston Studios with Jerry Boyce he was head hunted by Fonic.

JM is an integral part to the Fonic team ,heading projects, sound designing and mixing - an all round team player.

Robert Bourke

Rob Bourke joined Fonic back in 2005 after working in the industry on projects such as Lock Stock, Monarch of the Glen, and ........

He is also a fellow of the NFTS where he first met Jake and Barnaby.

At Fonic Rob is an invaluable part of the team. He has sound designed on The Secret Show and Mist The Sheepdog, cut dialogues for features and now is the main sound designer on Thomas the Tank Engine. As well as being an accomplished editor, Rob is also a great sound recordist.

Marty O'Brien

Marty has recently joined us to fill the vacant role of sound assistant.
He is coming from a sound runner background, which was his first Job after University.

There were many applicants, but Marty's experience and character came to the fore.
Were very confident that we have the right man for the job.

He's our first port of call for all incoming media as well as liaising with clients.

He is happy that Fonic seems to be a place where chances are given to progress very quickly.

Chris Swaine

Chris joined Fonic in 2009 and is all the way from Canada. He keeps everything running in the background that makes Fonic run like clockwork.

His sonic training and ability means everything that comes in and leaves the studio is of top quality.
